Music Maven
Last year, I was asked to manage a rock band. How hard can it be? I'm successful in my own industry. I've run multi-million dollar projects. I've got a wall of awards and can whip together a business plan faster than Lady Gaga changes sunglasses. I've managed whole divisions, let alone 5 guys in a damn good band who can't find their way out of Albuquerque. It can't be that difficult, right?
WRONG. I quickly learned that if I didn't figure out the rules of the game, this band would be yesterday's blip on some hipster's Facebook page.
The music industry in today's market is complex and ever-changing. The minute you think you have it figured out, someone comes along and messes up the chalk lines.
I thought I would start to chronicle some of our successes and failures as a way to help others navigate the playing field with a little more knowledge than I started with. Who knows, I may even name names. But, at the very least, I'll be leaving a diary of my slow, mental demise for use at my insanity hearing.
If you come visit me, bring pudding cups.
